Which national politician would you like to interview and why?
Desi Bouterse. Because he’s a controversial politician. He has been accused of being a communist, a drug dealer and a murderer, but he still walks around freely. He’s now the leader of the biggest political party, and he’s still someone everyone in Holland and Surinam recognizes. I would like to find out how this is possible.
Which fellow countryman are you most proud of?
The swimmer Anthony Nesty. He won a gold medal on the ‘88 Olympics. Got himself an Olympic record en was the first black athlete to win gold in swimming.What’s your favorite place to be?
The inlands of Surinam. The ultimate spot to relax.
Which characteristic of your country would you like to export to the rest of the world?
Hospitality. Even if you didn’t make an appointment, you can always join in for dinner here.
Suppose you could ban a characteristic from your country or people, what would it be?
Cowardice. My people needs to learn to stand up and fight for its rights.
What will you be doing in ten years?
Hard question. I’ll see when it’s there.
